Review #952; Rum #301: Raising Glasses Moongazer Guyana 9yr (Versailles)

Raising Glasses Moongazer Guyana 9yr

This is a rum from the independent bottlers at Raising Glasses. Branching out from their scotch origins, they have brought a selection of rums to market. This molasses based rum was distilled in 2012 on DDL’s Versailles Pot Still and aged in the UK for 9 years before being bottled at cask strength, though some coloring has been added.

ABV: 57.5%

Nose: Slight Burnt Caramel, Toasted Coconut, Allspice, Faint Industrial, Pineapple, Espresso

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Burnt Caramel, Toasted Coconut, Allspice, Industrial, Pineapple, Espresso, Dark Chocolate

Finish: Medium length finish, Espresso, Burnt Caramel, Toasted Coconut, Black Tea, Industrial, Pineapple, Coffee Cake, Dark Chocolate

Rating: 7/10

Great rum, I do not have much experience with the Versailles Pot Still so I am glad to try stuff from the single still at DDL. This is like an Espresso / Dark Chocolate cake with a slightly burnt caramel sauce and some fruit toppings. Really savory with hints of fruit and really enjoyable as well.
