Review #953; Scotch #209: Macallan Rich Cacao

Macallan Rich Cacao

This bottling comes to us from that famous (and pricey!) distillery The Macallan. Part of the Harmony collection this bottling of single malt was aged in a combination of European and American Oak casks before being bottled with no chill filtering or color added. It is called Cacao due to the color of the whisky as well as the sustainable packaging the bottle comes in.

ABV: 44%

Nose: Plums, Raisins, Orange Peel, Figs, Vanilla Cream

Palate: Light mouthfeel, Raisin, Plum, Orange Peel, Honey, Shortbread

Finish: Short finish, Raisin, Plum, Orange Peel, Honey, Shortbread

Rating: 6/10

It’s really good. Not much to say beyond that, nice flavors kind of what you expect. Not much more to say on the flavor front other than I wish it had a bit more heft in the palate and finish. However, when I finally looked up the price on this thing I got a good chuckle and was reminded I am not Macallan’s target customer.
