Review #959; Rum #305: Kohana Koa

Kohana Koa

This rum comes to us from the Kohana distillery located on the island of Oahu in the Pacific. This rum is made from fresh pressed cane juice. The Koa bottlings have been finished in Koa Casks, a wood endemic to Hawaii and bottled at a robust 50%.

ABV: 50%

Nose: Raspberry, slight olive, vegetal, milk chocolate

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Vegetal, Olive, Milk Chocolate

Finish: Short finish, Black Pepper, Vegetal, Olive, Milk Chocolate, Slight Lemon

Rating: 5/10

This is fine. Good and interesting flavors going on here but missing some of the oomph that I would want. Might just be my preference for unaged Cane Juice rums as well. A very solid product, though priced a bit out of my range.
