Review #961; Rum #306: Kohana Kea

Kohana Kea

This is a bottling from the Kohana distillery, located on Oahu, of their fresh pressed cane juice rum. I did not get the cane varietal that this is made from. Let us see how it is.

ABV: 40%

Nose: Lemongrass, Bell Pepper

Palate: Thin mouthfeel, Lemongrass, bit of chalk, bell pepper

Finish: Short, Lemongrass, chalk. Slight minerality

Rating: 4/10

This has such a good base on it, I love unaged cane juice rums. However, I can’t get by the thin mouthfeel and short finish, I wish the proof on this was upped to 45-50%. I feel like it would just sing at those proofs.
