Review #944; Rum #296: Neisson Organic

Neisson Organic

This rhum comes from that favorite distillery on Martinique, Neisson. This rhum agricole is certified organic, made from estate grown, fresh pressed cane juice, and natural home grown yeast. This follows a similar process to other agricoles except fermentation is allowed to carry on for 3 days.

ABV: 52.5%

Nose: Bright and citrusy, Lemongrass, Peppercorn, Apple Cider, Vinegar

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Black Peppercorn, Lemon Peel, faint grass, olive oil, brine

Finish: Shorter finish, Black Pepper, Brine, Olive Oil

Rating: 6/10

Its very good. Nice flavors, the nose is awesome with all that bright citrus going on. In comparison, however, the palate and finish lose a bit of that. I think I prefer the basic 50% Neisson slightly, and Pere Labat 59 a bit more as well. Not a bad rhum by any means, just not as good as some others.
