Review #828; Rum #228: Habitation Velier Takamaka 3yr

This is the first Seychelles rum distilled in 2018. This sugar cane is grown on the granite soil of the island of Mahe. This rum was distilled on a column still at the Trois Freres distillery. It is a blend of rums that have aged for 3 years in 2 French Oak barrels. Bottled for Velier, it was bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 60.8%

Nose: Pear, Apple Skin, Lemon Zest, Blackberry, Raisin, Cumin

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Apple Skin, Blackberry, Raisins, faint vegetalness, lemon zest.

Finish: Shorter finish, Blackberry, Lemon Zest, Toasted Brown Sugar

Rating: 5/10

Overall just fine. It has good base flavors here, but its missing the oomph I would want. Nothing bad by any means, but just not hitting me in the way I really want.
