This tequila comes to us from Nom 1139, produced in Jalisco it was cooked in a Stone Brick oven, crushed with a Tahona, fermented in the open air with well water before being distilled 2x on a copper pot still. It was then aged in Ex-Bourbon and French oak barrels for 5 years before bottling with no additives.
I had this blind so keep that in mind while reading my review.
ABV: 40%
Nose: Brine, minerality, slight earthiness, River Water,
Palate: Lighter Mouthfeel, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Brine, River Water
Finish: Shorter finish, black pepper, slight leather, river water, sea salt
Rating: 5/10
Overall just fine. It has good flavors in it, but it loses out due to a lack of mouthfeel and depth of flavor likely due to proof. I really like how savory it is, but wish it was amped up in intensity just a little
Guess: Aged Mezcal, 1-2 Years, 40-43% abv.
Reveal: El Tesoro Paradiso Extra Anejo
Overall, about what I expect from most Tequila offerings. All that great agave flavor is buried under far too much barrel for my liking.
