This is a bottling from Barrell, an American blender primarily known for their whiskeys. This is a blend of rums from different countries, most of the blend is Pot-Still Jamaican rum with 30% of the blend being 21 year old Guyanese, 12 year old Barbados, and 3 year old Martinique that are then finished in an amaro cask for 6 months before being bottled.
ABV: 65.91
Nose: Grassiness, Nuttiness, Grilled Pineapple, Over-ripe Blueberries, Guava, Nutmeg, Black Pepper
Palate: Thick mouthfeel. Nuttiness, Grilled Pineapple, Blueberries, Nutmeg, Black Pepper, Raspberry, Toasted Coconut, industrial smoke
Finish: Medium length finish. Black Pepper, toasted brown sugar, black tea, vanilla, toasted coconut, faint industrial smoke
Rating: 8/10
Loaded with flavor, the blend brings a nice complexity of little bits all of these distilleries have to offer with the Jamaican component (Clarendon?) and the Demerara shouldering the weight here to my taste buds. The spices tie all of the fruits together nicely and the amaro casks I would presume mutes it a little. Overall, an excellent bottle of rum. Those Barrell guys really know how to blend spirits.
