Review #619; Tequila #1: Pura Vida Extra Anjeo

This Tequila comes to us from NOM 1414. It was cooked in an Autoclave, extracted with a roller mill, distilled 3 times before being aged for in ex-American oak barrels for at least 3 years.

I had this blind, and this is the first Tequila I have reviewed, so keep that in mind while reading this.

ABV: 40%

Nose: Green vegetalness, Green Apple, Raisin, light earthiness, tobacco leaf, a touch of leather, rainwater.

Palate: Lighterish mouthfeel. Green Apple, vanilla, slight green vegetalness, tobacco leaf, black pepper, earthiness, minerality, rainwater.

Finish: Short finish. Burst of Green Apple, vegetalness, black pepper, minerality, vanilla.

Rating: 7/10

This one is pretty soft all around. Low in abv I feel but still manages to be pretty flavorful. Delicate, fruits with Green Apples, some raisins, slight minerality, some black pepper and tobacco leaf pop in to bring a nice savory component. Underneath all of that is a nice heavy “green” vegatalness. Akin to raw green pepper or maybe some fresh cucumber. Very dry which is nice too. There is a touch of leather on the palate and nose as well.

Guess: Pasote Anjeo
