Review #2; Rye #1: Woodford Reserve DSP KY-52

Background: This Kentucky Straight Rye from Woodford Reserve was aged in New American Oak barrels before being finish in Toasted Charred New Oak Barrels.

ABV: 45.2%

Setting: Neat in a Gleincarin, allows to sit for 10 minutes

Nose: Strong notes, Caramel, Oak, Light vanilla scent.

Taste: Very heavy on the oak, little else comes on the palate other than the heavy oak

Finish: Spice, little black pepper, heavy oak and a medium length

Rating: 5/10

Conclusion: This is a distiller special edition. I would not buy this again for the taste or the enjoyment. IT makes a fine one to sit on the shelf of the collection but 60 dollars for this distillery special is too much. The oak in this is overpowering on the palate and the finish making this almost unbearable for my Palate. I finshed the entire dram but I would not buy this again for myself or someone else unless they really enjoyed a strong oak finish.
