Review #3; Bourbon #1: Eagle Rare

Background: This Bourbon comes to us by way of Buffalo Trace, a massive distillery located in Lexington Kentucky. This whiskey was aged for 10 years in New Charred Oak barrels before being bottled.

ABV: 45%

Setting: Neat in a Gleincarin, allows to sit for 10 minutes

Nose: Sweet, mostly Caramel, Orange, hint of vanilla and a strong whiff of oak.

Palate: Caramel, Brown Sugar, hint of spice and that ever present oak.

Finish: Lighter finish, pretty sweet but with that oak and perhaps leathery taste lingering at the very end.

Conclusion: While not a bad Whiskey I do not understand the hype around this bottle. I have one simply to have in the bar but I would rather reach for a bottle of Buffalo Trace which I find to be more suited towards my palate. On it’s own it is simply a good bourbon that I reach for ocasiionaly as a comparison or for someone to try. A good buy at MSRP but I would not buy it above that price.
