Review #1047; Rum #375
Once again I find myself reviewing and tasting more rum from Hampden Estate. I never tire of taking a mini trip back to Trelawny when I sip on this rum and so I will always have some fun stuff on hand. In keeping with my usual biases this will be another high ester continentally aged Hampden rum that has been getting less and less available. Let’s see how it holds up
Distillery: Hampden Estate
Bottler: Kill Devil
Region: Jamaica
Still: Pot
ABV: 63.2%. Cask strength.
Age: 11 years. Distilled in 2007. Bottled in 2018.
Cask type: Ex-Bourbon
Color: Natural Color. Non-chill-filtered.
Nose: Pungent, Buttered Popcorn, vinegar, cumin, allspice, Grilled Pineapple, lemon zest, iodine
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Buttered popcorn, vinegar, allspice, grilled pineapple, lemon zest, brine, iodine, cumin, passionfruit, banana
Finish: Long finish, grilled pineapple, buttered popcorn, vanilla, lemon zest, black tea, brine, cumin, minerality, banana
Conclusion: Its a very high ester Jamaican rum from Hampden Estate. You already knew I was going to love it and I do. Fruits, weird industrial notes, buttered popcorn, long finish. It hits all the stuff I Love about aged C<>H
