Worthy Park 12 Year Single Estate

Review #1077; Rum #405

This is a bottling from Worthy Park Estate, that famous Jamaican distillery located in St. Catherine parish. This rum was aged for 12 years in ex-bourbon in Jamaica before being bottled with no additives. I got this bottle from the distillery when I visited and was told it is different than the 12 year 2006, but I could be wrong.

Man, what a great example of Jamaican rum. This is one of the best offerings of low esters rum I have had. The floral / wildflower / lavender notes really explode out of the nose here as one of the most unique notes I’ve had in a rum. The fruit and spices really integrate themselves to the profile as well. One would think maybe 12 years of tropical ageing can go too far, but this bottle really speaks to me as a great bottling of Worthy Park rum. It is certainly better for me than the last 12 year 2006.
