Review #1166; Rum #481
Here we have a bottling of Viche from Colombia. Viche is the sugar cane spirit distilled by Afrocolombian communities in the Colombian Pacific coast. This bottling was produced by maestro vichero Diego González. Diego González is a 3rd generation maestro vichero in Chocó, the state with the largest Afrocolombian population. After selling locally only, is working now under this new brand. Hailing from Playa de Guachalito, Joví, Nuquí, Chocó, Colombia, this comes from Yellow and zamba cane varietals. The cane was crushed into juice using a traditional trapiche, fermented for 15-20 days covered. It was distilled in a pot still with a wooden lid. It is bottled unaged with no additives.

Here we have another viche from Colombia, and here we have another quality sugarcane spirit. The flavors here are nice, a strong lemon zest and fruit forward flavor with a bit of earthiness thrown in.
