Review #1384; Rum #687
Here we have a bottling of Viche (a Colombian cane spirit) produced by Viche Master Vicky Martínez Cuenú. This viche is produced in Sivirú, Bajo Baudó, Chocó. This viche is produced from “pateperro” sugarcane and “coibatores” varietal, with the pateperro having been planted for over 100 years. It is milled in a mechanical sugar mill, fermented for 18-20 days, distilled in a White aluminum pot still.

This viche really pops. Great flavor, its well balanced, great bit of weirdness going on with the rubber notes. But all the other bits tie it all together in a way that is extremely pleasing to drink. We just have to hope one day someone starts being able to export viche so it can be imported into the USA.
