Velier Isautier Traditional 16yr 2006
This rum comes to us from Isautier, a distillery located on Reunion Island. This molasses rum was produced from Reunion cane and distilled on a column still. It was aged for 16 years before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.
ABV: 57%
Nose: Raspberry, Allspice, blackberry, Cinnamon
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Raspberry, Allspice, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Black Tea, Star Anise
Finish: Star Anise, Raspberry, Allspice, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Black Tea
Rating: 7/10
This is a great rum. It had a good chunk of savory flavors with some of that star anise peeking in. The oak is well integrated as well. Some fruits pop in too. A great rum, but the Sugarcane release is slightly better.
