Treaty Oak Rum 9 Year

Review #1233; Rum #546

This here is a molasses based rum distilled and aged in Texas by Treaty Oak. This rum was aged all 9 years in New American Oak in that hot ass Texas climate and bottled at cask strength with no additives.

Distillery: Treaty Oak

Bottler: Treaty Oak

Region:  Texas

Still: Column

ABV: 50%

Cask: Ex-Bourbon

Nose: Vanilla, Touch of Umami, Black Tea, Orange Peel

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Vanilla, Black Tea, Orange Peel, Caramel, coffee

Finish:  Medium length finish, Leather, Black Tea, Allspice, Vanilla, coffee

This is a very good rum that is a dessert bomb (no additives though). Very vanilla and coffee forward with a good backbone of oak from that new charred oak. I know for some folks this will come across as too oaky especially on this finish but I like the sharp bit of spice it has on the back end.

Rating: 6/10
