Here we have a new project from PM sprits,The Rums of Mexico (MX Rums). From the same folks that brought you 5 Sentidos, Alambique Serrano, and Cañada, this new brand line sets out to explore traditional and modern cane spirits found in Mexcio. These spirits are often called locally aguardiente, cañita, chinguirito, cañazo, or ron.

This bottling comes from Pedro Andrés and Jorge Nájera, two first generation distillers from Zapopan, Jalisco. This rum was distilled from molasses at the Satvrnal distillery and was inspired by the flavors of high ester Caribbean rums. To that end this rum was distilled with their own muck and fermented for 15 days before being distilled in a copper hybrid still.

Rating: 8/10

This is one of those rums that takes you for a ride the second you pour in into your glass. The flavor fills the room with bubble gum, tropical fruits, cement glue, and lemon. There a hint of floralness to it as well. Theres a big beef bouillon saltiness on the finish that is really nice. This is certainly weird and funky and that is awesome. You can feel the inspiration they drew while still making something that was their own. This is a real standout for sure.
