Review #1445; Rum #744
This sample was provided to me by a producer, distributor, or some other industry source free-of-charge. No compensation, outside of the sample, was received and there were no strings attached.
Here we have a new project from PM sprits,The Rums of Mexico (MX Rums). From the same folks that brought you 5 Sentidos, Alambique Serrano, and Cañada, this new brand line sets out to explore traditional and modern cane spirits found in Mexcio. These spirits are often called locally aguardiente, cañita, chinguirito, cañazo, or ron.
This rum was distilled by Pedro Bautista in Zoquiapam Boca de los RÍos, Oaxaca. Fresh pressed cane juice from this varietal was distilled on a wood-fired four plate continuous copper still before being bottled with no additives.

This is a great and easy to drink bottling. It’s got great flavor but manages to drink realatively delicately given the proof. But it doesn’t lack flavor or heft. It’s just really easy to drink and will be great as a session rum or one to dissect.
I have to say overall, this is a great series as each rum brings something different to the table. The team there at Rums Of Mexico and the distillers who make the product have great stuff here and I can’t wait to get my own bottles.
