The Last Drop Infinitum Rum Blend 22 Year

Review #1501; Rum #800

This is a bottle from independent bottlers “The Last Drop” who work in the space of very old expressions that command a high dollar due to age and scarcity. This bottling is similar to the Holmes Cay Infinity from a few years ago in that it is a blend of rums from distilleries in Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guadeloupe, Brazil and Saint Lucia. These rums came from duty suspended samples from all of these countries and distilleries that were put into a cask in 2000 and left to age. Unlike the Holmes Cay release of this, it does not come with a breakdown of the blend, I suspect it is the same but I don’t want to put it out there in case it differs slightly.

For me, this is an excellent and interesting rum. It has some of those great old DDL rum flavors and its quite expressive with those. Compared to the Holmes Cay version of this, it falls a little short from my recollection. This is not as vibrant for me despite still being quality. I don’t factor pricing into my scores but it has to be noted that this bottle is available in my home state of Ohio (of course they carry this over-priced thing but almost nothing else worth buying but I digress). But, to get back to the point, this is going to cost you more than double that Holmes Cay release and does not come with the great booklet with the blend breakdown and history. This is not worth the price for me (the Holmes Cay was out of my price range as well) but for a historical offering like this, it at least tastes good and interesting.
