Review #1108; Rum #434
St Nicholas Abbey is a rum distillery in Barbados that is steeped in rich history. The site the distillery sits on no manufactured rum and sugar going back into the late 1600s but eventually stopped production. In 2006 the distillery was restarted with the help of Richard Seale who supplied his expertise and Foursquare’s rum to get them off the ground.
This is a single cask of rum from St. Nicholas Abbey. This rum was tasted by a group of folks at the Barbados Rum event who begged for some of this rum to be bottled at cask strength for the event which they relented and did.

This is excellent. Great mouth feel and finish, bursting with flavor. The floral notes are a unqiue and nice touch and the spices pair well with the touch of sweetness. Having not had rum from this distillery before I can see why it was lamented about them not bottling things at cask strength cause this stuff is so good.
