Review #1284; Rum #589
Here we have another bottling of rum from the American independent bottlers Rolling Fork. This bottling comes from the Foursquare distillery on Barbados. This rum was distilled from molasses on column and pot still and aged for a time at origin. It was then brought to the US and was aged in a mix of Caribbean, European, and American casks before being bottled at cask strength with no additives or chill filtering.
Distillery: Foursquare
Bottler: Rolling Fork
Region: Barbados
Still: Pot & Column
ABV: 63.32%
Nose: Toffee, Dark Chocolate, Orange Peel, Nutmeg, Chai Spice
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Dark Chocolate, Orange Peel, Nutmeg, Black Pepper, touch of Espresso
Finish: Medium length finish, Dark Chocolate, Orange Peel, Nutmeg, Espresso, Allspice
Rating: 7/10
This is one of those rums that walks the line on oak, but stays on the side of being really enjoyable because of it. Spices, a touch of heat, some balanced sweetness, and those savory notes from the espresso and dark chocolate make for a very enjoyable experience.
