Rolling Fork El Salvador 11 Year

Review #1092; Rum #419

This rum comes to us from Rolling Fork, an independent bottler of rum based out of Kentucky. This rum that was distilled from molasses was aged for 10 years in El Salvador. The rum was finished for 22 months in 3 Oloroso sherry casks, 5 port wine casks, 4 rye whisky casks, and 10 bourbon casks.  It was bottled at cask strength with no additives.

This is fine. It starts out with a really nice nose, fruits, baking spices, a bit of vanilla sweetness. But on the palate and finish this all becomes very muddled. It may be a case of too much, but it feels like all the flavors are vying to be noticed and just run together. At time it even veers into being overly sweet for me.
