Review #1283; Rum #588
Here we have another bottling of Foursquare rum done by the independent bottlers Rolling Fork. This rum was distilled at the Foursquare distillery in Barbados and it aged for an unknown number of years at origin. It then aged at Rolling Forks facility in Borden, Indiana and was finished in an ex-Kentucky rye whisky barrel for over 17 months before being bottled at cask strength with no additives or chill filtering.
Distillery: Foursquare
Bottler: Rolling Fork
Region: Barbados
Still: Pot & Column
ABV: 57.81%
Nose: Vanilla, Toasted Coconut, Apple, touch of herbaceous
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Toasted Coconut, Apple, Herbaceous, Peppery
Finish: Medium length finish, Herbaceous, Toasted Coconut, Vanilla, Heavy black pepper
Rating: 5/10
This is fine. It has a good base flavor, but for me that rye finish is dominating with the herbal notes for me. Rye cask and rum tends to not mix for me and that trend continues here, but you might like it more than I do.
