Review #994; Rum #334: Barrell Rum J601

Barrell Rum Sercial Madeira Finish #J601

This is a selection of rum from Barrell Craft spirits. This is a blend of rums, 60% from Hampden and Worthy Park, 40% Barbados, Guyana, and Martinique. This blend was then married into a single cask that previously held Sercial Madeira.

ABV: 65.25%

Nose: Faint Apple, a touch of acidity, Banana, Pineapple, Passionfruit, Cardamom

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Apple, Vinegar, Banana, Passionfruit, Cardamom, slight olives, Brine

Finish: Medium length finish, Vinegar, Apple, Passionfruit, Olives, Brine

Rating: 5/10

Fine, but a bit of unbalance prevents it from rising any higher. Nice fruit notes, the apple is a surprise for sure, but the mixture of vinegar and brine dominate them in a way that just brings a down a touch for me. It’s like the finish made this a bit jumbled.
