Myers’s Single Barrel Rum Sazerac Rye Finish
This is a rum from the Myers’s brand that we all know and a lot of us probably drank at some point. This bottling was pretty cheap so I figured why not give it a try. In what appears to me an attempt to overhaul the spirit they took this rum and put under the Sazerac Single Barrel program and finished it in Sazerac Rye casks before bottling.
ABV: 43%
Nose: Heavy on the Caramel, a bit peppery, faint apple
Palate: Light mouthfeel, Caramel, a bit of pepper, slight tannins, slight coffee
Finish: Short finish, Caramel, peppery, slight tannins, Green Apple
Rating: 4/10
Not bad, but there is better out there. I know this is meant for cocktailing but for neat drinking it just doesn’t do much for me there. There are better out there, for example the Don Q I had last night is just better than this for me (I know they are meant for different things). But overall for the price this would be best suited to cocktailing where it will compete with Hamilton 86.
