Review #98; Bourbon #45: Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary

The Diamond Anniversary is a blend of 13 to 16 year old whiskies.

ABV: 45.5%

Nose: Sweet heavy vanilla, oak, caramel, some spice. This thing is a sweet vanilla bomb

Palate: Alright mouthfeel, vanilla, spice, oak, musty a hint of caramel.

Finish: Hint of vanilla, spice and oak but it doesn’t linger very long. This is fine, nothing wrong with it. However nothing about it stands out to me. Perhaps they were going for a more sweeter mellow side of the WT profile. I prefer WT101 to this but this is going to get a similar score for a different profile.

Rating: 5/10

I think what we can take away from this mini-series of 4 Wild Turkey limited editions (I have never had the RR LE) is that they don’t usually command the price charged. They are good ( I am a WT Fan) but unless you can get them on a good sale pass them, try them at a bar, and just buy some RR SiB picks from a picker whose tastes align with your own.
