Longueteau Genesis 4yr 2016
This rhum comes from the Longueteau distillery located on Guadeloupe. It was distilled in 2016 from Sugar Cane Juice on a Creole Column still and aged for 4 years in new oak barrels from the Troncais forest. All of the sugar cane is Red cane. This rum was distilled to 72.3% and released at 71.7%

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Lemon Zest, Tobacco Leaf, Black Pepper, Brine, Vanilla, Pear
Finish: Long finish, Black Pepper, Tobacco Leaf, Cinnamon, Sea Salt, Vanilla

This rhum also comes from the Longueteau distillery located on Guadeloupe. This rum also is made from Red Cane that came from the estate that was distilled on a Creole Column still and rested for 24 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled at natural strength.
ABV:72.7%
Nose: Pungent, Cheese, Brine, Lemon Peel, Grapefruit
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Cream Cheese, Brine, Lemon Peel, Grape Fruit, Lime Juice
Finish: Long finsh, Brine, Lemon Peel, Grape Fruit, Lime Juice, Cream Cheese
Rating: 7/10
Both of these rums are great but in different ways. The ageing brings a nice component to the 4yr with the oak providing a compliment of flavors. The unaged is strong, pungent and packed full of flavors including the cheese which I don’t get in rum but I do find in some mezcal.
Both incredible introductions to Longueteau and yet another great example of Rhum Agricole.
