Review #947; Scotch #208: Ardbeg Ardcore Committee

Ardbeg Ardcore Committee

This bottling comes from the Ardbeg distillery located on Islay in Scotland. This is part of their limited edition Committee releases. This is a non-age stated single malt that was created using roasted black malt. This was bottled with no chill filtering.

ABV: 50.1%

Nose: Very light nose, faint lemon zest, bitter black tea, slight iodine and smoke

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, campfire smoke, lemon zest, black tea, hay

Finish: Short finish, pop of smoke, lemon zest, iodine

Rating: 5/10

Overall this is just fine. Good flavors but they seem weak and meager compared to the core bottlings. This finish is quite short and I’d expect a bit more going on for using a different malt. Honestly, a bit disappointing overall especially once price comes into consideration here.
