Lost Lantern McCarthy’s 3yr 11 month Single Cask
This is a bottling of American Single malt from US based independent bottler Lost Lantern. This cask comes to us from McCarthy’s, a brand this is created at the Clear Creek Distillery in Hood River Oregon. This distillery was the first to make American Single malt and continues to produce it to this day. The distillery takes UK barley malted with peat at Port Ellen that is then fermented, distilled, and aged in Oregon. This cask was aged for 3 years and 11 months in a 2nd fill 228 liter Oregon Oak cask before being bottled at cask strength with no additives or filtering. Entry proof was 110.
ABV: 57.1%
Nose: Allspice, Lemon Zest, Shortbread, BBQ Pork
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Lemon Zest, Shortbread, BBQ Pork, Allspice, Coriander, vanilla
Finish: Medium length finish, Shortbread, Lemon Zest, Allspice, Coriander
Rating: 7/10
Another Great whisky from McCarthy’s, those folks really know how to craft some fine American Single Malt. Great spices, good peat level, and the oak just seems to round it all out very well.
