McCarthy’s 6 year

This American Single malt comes to us from the Clear Creek distillery located in Hood River Oregon. This expression is distilled from 100% Peat-malted barley from Port Ellen on a pot still, then aged for 6 years in an Oregon Oak Cask.

ABV: 50%

Nose: Fall leaves, Lemon Zest, faint brine, pine, bacon

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Fall Leaves, Lemon Zest, Brine, Pine, Bacon, Allspice

Finish: Medium length finish, Fall leaves, Lemon Zest, Pine, Bacon, Allspice, Black Pepper

Rating: 7/10

This is a great whisky. The peat is well balanced against the other flavors and compliments them. The oak structure is nice and quite different bringing a more savory and dark kind of flavor profile to me compared to American Oak. Overall, a great whisky and a step up from the 3yr.
