Review #923: Rum #286: Privateer New England Lot No. 1

Privateer Distiller’s Drawer #108 New England Lot #1

This is an ode to Privateer’s microblending. This is a blend of 8 casks, 4 that were pot still and 4 that were column still, aged for 2-6 years and producing 1,675 bottles. This was bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 53.9%

Nose: Toasted Brown Sugar, Whipped Cream, Lime Juice, faint green apple, black pepper

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Toasted Brown Sugar, Lime Juice, Vanilla, oak spice

Finish: Medium length finish, toasted brown sugar, vanilla, slight lime, black pepper

Rating: 6/10

This has some nice things going on in it, its hit the hallmarks of what I expect from the Privateer profile and does it very well with its fruity savory combo it has going on. It’s a slightly better blend than the H.V. aged bottling, but doesn’t live up to some of the other distiller’s drawer single casks or the unaged offerings.
