Background: This is a single barrel rye picked by Nasa Liquors in Texas from the Beam distillery. This was part of the big rye blind where I took notes on several ryes then was shown the bottle.
his is a series that I will be posting my reviews and reveal from but no the overall results. A group of us did a big rye split where we sampled over a month blind samples from each other where we dedicated whole bottles, set those scores into a google doc, then pronounced a winner after it was all over.
There was a non-participating member who made sure there were no double entries.
Rye 20
ABV: 57.5%
Nose: Corn Sweetness, Grassy, Rye spice.
Palate: Nice thick mouthfeel Corn sweetness, vanilla, heat. Strong corn, all spice, black pepper.
Finish: Malty Corn, vanilla sweetness, oak.
A nice high strength barely legal rye bomb, reminds me of a stronger version of WT101 Rye.
Rating: 7/10
Guess: Knob Creek CS Rye
Reveal: Knob Creek SiB Rye (NASA Liquors)
Not a bad guess and one I enjoyed. I would take a bottle for the price for sure!
