Review #898; Bourbon #177: Four Roses PS OESQ 9yr 11month (OHLQ)

Four Roses Single Barrel Barrel Strength 9yr 11month OESQ “OHLQ Select”

This single barrel of Bourbon comes to us from the Four Roses distillery. It is comprised of the OESQ recipe of 75% Corn, 20% rye, and 5% malted barley. It was aged for 9 years and 11 months before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

I had this blind so keep that in mind while reading my notes.

ABV: 61.4%

Nose: Leather, Black Pepper, Vanilla, a bit of “funk”, Green Apple.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Black Pepper, Vanilla, Oak Spice, funk, nice oak structure.

Finish: Medium length finish, Black Pepper, Green Apple, Oak Spice, Funk, Tobacco Leaf

Rating: 7/10

Great Bourbon. Powerful flavors, a bit of weirdness going on with some faint fruit. Quite delicious

Guess: Four Roses, OESQ, 10-12yrs, 52-55%

Reveal: Four Roses PS OESQ 9yr 11month 61%

A few misses, but for being able to pick a recipe blindly and the distillery, I feel pretty darn good about. A great bourbon as always.
