Transcontinental Rum Line Friendship Barrel 19yr (2002) Florida Rum Society + Baytowne

This single cask of rum comes to us from the Transcontinental Rum Line brand from LM&V. This rum from angostura was distilled in 2002, aged for 15.7 years in Trinidad, 3.7 years in Europe before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 63%

Nose: Star Anise, Menthol, Vicks Vapor Rub, Raspberry, Guava Skin, Black Tea.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Star Anise, Menthol Raspberry, faint earthy, Vinegar, Vanilla, Black Tea.

Finish: Long finish, Star Anise, Raspberry, Earthy, Raisins, Vinegar, Black Pepper, Black Tea.

Rating: 7/10

Great and quite weird. Drying, heavy on the star anise and vicks rub, fruits and spice come in but this is one very heavy rum. Some sweetness pops in and out but it’s a very dry and savory rum which is awesome.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.
