Background: This is from a rye blind series I did. This was shown after I wrote my notes. This is a blend of straight ryes that have been finished in Port and French Oak barrels.
ABV: 49.3%
This is a series that I will be posting my reviews and reveal from but no the overall results. A group of us did a big rye split where we samples over a month blind samples from each other where we dedicated whole bottles, set those scores into a google doc, then pronounced a winner after it was all over.
There was a non-participating member who made sure there were no double entries so lets kick this off.
Rye 6
ABV: 49.3%
Nose: Herbal rye spice, herbal sweetness, muted nose, caramel hint
Palate: Herbal rye forward, sweet creamy caramel, burnt brown sugar, oak. Very tasty and well balanced on the palate.
Finish: Medium length, warm rye spice, creamy vanilla, oak and brown sugar
Well balanced, good flavors, and very tasty. This hits the right notes.
Rating: 7/10
Reveal: HW MWND Act 6.x
I did not guess on this one, but I have reviewed it before and found it to be young, but doing blind is the best way to show how you really feel about a whiskey.
