This is a single cask of Savanna Rum. This Grand Arome rum was aged for 10 years and finished in a cask that previously held Savanna HERR, which is High Ester Reunion Rum.
ABV: 55.1%
Nose: Tropical, intense, and weird. Grapefruit, Slight Sweatiness, Guava, Toasted Coconut, Pink Bubblegum, faint industrial notes, Star Anise, Raspberry
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Brine, Olives, Grapefruit, Guava, Pink Bubblegum, Star Anise, Sweatiness, Raspberry.
Finish: Long finish, Brine, Grapefruit, Guava, Pink Bubblegum, Star Anise, Nutmeg, Toasted Coconut, Raspberry, Industrial.
Rating: 8/10
What a fantastic and strange rum. The Grand Arome shines through with those industrial and kind of sweaty athletic gear notes (strange but that’s what it reminds me of) but the heavy fruits and pink bubblegum help carry it to great heights. This is one that while awesome, you don’t need very much of at a time given its such an intense flavor experience.
