This rum comes to us by way of Smooth Amber, a craft distillery located in West Virginia. This is a blend of two well aged rums, 26 and 28 years old Source from two Jamaican distilleries. (Appleton and Monymusk more than likely). Smooth Ambler aged this release for an additional year in Rye Whisky casks before being bottled. This was likely bottled around 2015 or 2016 Let’s see how it tastes.

Very Good. The flavors here are nice and play well with each other. Compared to the non finished version the rye finish adds a pop of pepper and and herbalness. The finish also takes away a bit of the rougher edges and more rummy flavors which bring it down a bit for me. Its less “rummy” as well. Its still a very good release of old Jamaican rum and really crushable (though I wish I could have tried this at cask strength)
