Review #840; Scotch #199: Bunnahabhain 24yr (1988) Scott’s Selection

This Bunnahabhain was distilled in 1988 then bottled in 2004 for IB Scott’s Selection. Bottled at cask strength and aged for 16 years in oak casks, let’s see how it holds up.

ABV: 53.8%

Nose: Green Apple, Butterscotch Hard Candy, Herbaceous, Cedar, Dark Chocolate.

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Dark Chocolate, Lemon Grass, Butterscotch, Wildflower, Cedar, Basalmic Vinegar, Cumin, Sourdough

Finish: Medium length finish, Dark Chocolate, Butterscotch, Wildflower, Basalmic Vinegar, Cumin, Sourdough.

Rating:8/10

Weird, Funky, and Malty this is complex and off in all the best ways. Lots of weird flavors not usually associated with malt going on here but I am all about it.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.
