Review #838; Scotch #198: Duncan Taylor Octave “The Huntly” 19yr (1998)

This blended malt from The Huntly was aged in Oak casks before being finished in a Sherry Octave. It was then bottled at cask strength with no color added or chill filtering.

ABV: 53.3%

Nose: Raisins, Bready, Lemon Zest, Slight Nuttiness, musty cedar chest.

Palate: Medium Mouthfeel, Raisins, Bready, Nuttiness, Black Pepper, musty cedar chest.

Finish: Medium length finish, figs, nuttiness, bready, black pepper.

Rating: 6/10

Very good. It hits those notes for something finished but not like some of the sherry bombs I have had. Very good as I enjoy the flavors but it doesn’t rise to great heights for me. A good drink to just kick back on the patio and enjoy in the evening, requiring a bit of your attention, but not too much.
