Review #832; Rum #230: Privateer Distillers Drawer Mirth

This is a single cask of rum from Privateer, the American distillery mainly focused on rum located in Ipswich Massachusetts. This rum, made from molasses, was distilled on a column still, put into New American Oak, then aged for 5 years and 1 month before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 57.4%

Nose:Vanilla Cream, Black Pepper, Toffee, Raspberry, Toasted Coconut.

Palate: Medium Mouthfeel, Vanilla Cream, Espresso, Raspberry, toasted coconut, nutmeg, black tea.

Finish: Medium length finish, black pepper, oak structure, toffee, dark chocolate.

Rating: 6/10

Nice spice, good fruits and oak structure. A very good offering from Privateer, though this particular cask does trend in the hotter and oakier side of the spectrum. Perhaps a bit of water is needed. But overall another solid showing from one of the best American rum distilleries.
