Review #823; Rum #226: Savanna Intense 6yr

This rum comes to us by way of the Savanna Distillery on Reunion. This molasses rum was aged for 6 years in ex-cognac casks before being finished for 6 months in ex-sherry casks and bottled by the Savanna distillery.

ABV: 46%

Nose: Heavy Dark Fruit notes, Raisins, Figs, Plums, toasted coconut, Orange peel, vanilla.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Figs, Raisin, Toasted Coconut, Orange Peel, gingerbread, vanilla.

Finish: Shorter finish, Fig, Raisin, Toasted Coconut.

Rating: 6/10

A very good and tasty rum. Loads of fruits, some spices, and toasted coconut. The sherry is a touch heavy on a rum that already spent a good amount of time in an ex-cognac cask, but sometimes a good sherry bomb is welcome.
