Review #809; Bourbon #170: Anderson Club 10yr (1995)

This 10 year old bourbon comes to us by way of the Old Heaven Hill Distillery, before it was burned down in 1996 and moved to the new site. Bottled in 1995 (glass tax stamp on the bottle. In a strange turn this bourbon underwent the Charcoal filtering process similar to Jack Daniels (showing that Jack Daniels is still in fact bourbon). I’ve not had Pre-Fie Heaven Hill so this should be fun.

ABV: 43%

Nose: Crème brûlée, Big Cherry, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Caramel, Brown Sugar, Milk Chocolate, Apricot, Slight Green Apple Skin.

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Orange Peel, Big Cherry, Caramel, Brown Sugar, Milk Chocolate, Apricot.

Finish: Medium length finish. Orange Peel, Cherry Brown Sugar, Apricot, Milk Chocolate, Nutmeg, Green Apple Skin.

Rating: 8/10

This is excellent. The mouthfeel is rich and viscous, the finish good and the flavors well married and complex. This is unlike any other Heaven Hill I have had, no nuttiness or funk. Rich fruits, spices, and some classic bourbon flavors of vanilla all play well together.
