This aged Clairin comes to use by way of the Casimir distillery located in Baraderes, Haiti. Distilled from sugar cane juice, these aged barrels are a relatively new thing thanks to La Masion and Velier erecting a small warehouse in Port-au-Prince to age this rum in bourbon, wine, and ex-rum casks. This cask, selected by t8ke of the Aficionados group, was aged for 41 months in an ex-cognac cask before being bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non chill filtered.

This is a very good selection by the group. Loads of fruits, spices, and a bit of savory zest and grassiness thrown in. IT’s brought down a little bit by the Cognac cask being so overpowering which may not be a bad thing for some palates, but I feel that base distillate gets a little bit lost in the mix.
