This is a single barrel selected by a group (Kingsman). This MGP bourbon was finished in a Cab Sav barrel before being bottled at cask strength.
I had this blind then was revealed the notes, so keep that in mind while you read my review.
ABV: 58.1%
Nose: Crème brûlée, Orange Peel, Black Pepper, Tobacco Leaf, Slight Musty Funk
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Orange Peel, Musty Funk, Tobacco Leaf, Black Pepper, Crème brûlée
Finish: Medium length finish, Tobacco Leaf, Musty Funk, Black Pepper, Vanilla Cream, Orange Peel
Spicy, Funky, tobacco leaf, and some fruits, this is a great offering. The spice is nice and the fruits pull it in as this is a sweet and savory bomb that balances well between the two.
Rating: 7/10
Guess: Russel’s Reserve SiB, 9-10 Years Old, 55% abv.
Reveal: Backbone Uncut Cab Sav Finish, 6 Years, 58.1%, Kingsman Pick
