Review #772; Rye #56: Blue Run Golden Rye

This is a sourced Rye from Blue Run, an NDP who put out this rye. This was a small release of 92 barrels from a non-disclosed Kentucky distillery with no age statement and no mashbill given. With the wealth of information, let’s see how it is.

ABV: 47.5%

Nose: Graham Cracker, Vanilla Cream, Faint Green Apple,

Palate: Light Mouthfeel, Vanilla, Graham Cracker, Faint Green Apple,

Finish: Short finish, Vanilla, Graham Cracker, Faint Green Apple, Black Pepper

Rating: 4/10

Not much to say about this one really. Not offensive or off putting, but not exciting or interesting in any way. Just to venture my guess, this is a barely legal rye as I don’t get much rye spice from it. Not bad, but there is better and more interesting things either. I do not factor price into my reviews as it should not play a component, but I would be remiss to not comment on a No Age Statement, No Source, No Mashbill, $100 rye that is under 50% as being absurd.
