Review #770; Mezcal #76: Cinco Sentidos Espadin Puntas

This bottling from 5 Sentidos, is the first time the company has bottled and shipped Puntas into the United States. This 200 liter batch was made from harvesting ripe Espadin and roasting them in a conical oven with Mesquite firewood for 5 days. After being cooked, the agave were chopped with machete, smashed with hammers, and allowed to ferment with water in cypress sabino tanks. They were then double distilled on his single copper Alembic style still and bottled in March 2021.

This is some excellent Mezcal. Loads of vegetal flavor, tons of savory spices, and that earthiness and minerality that bring it all together. It is a wonderfully intense punch in the face of flavor that is great sipped at strength and opens up a bit more of those spices with water.
