Review #769; Rum #201: Smooth Ambler Revelation Rum (1990)

This rum comes to us from Smooth Ambler, a distillery located in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. While they did not distill this rum, they did bottle and source a very interesting bottling. This rum, with a 1990 vintage year on it, is actually the youngest rum in the bottle! This is a blend of rums, with pot still rum from 1985 and rum from a Column Still from 1990. Bottled in 2014 this makes it a blend of 29 and 24 year old Jamaican rums. These were aged in Europe primarily. I happened across a bottle at The Inferno Room in Indianapolis and decided to take the plunge to see how it holds up.

I was not sure what to expect going into this, but for the ages these have on them, they are an enjoyable rum. Loads of baking spices, fruits, and a nice oak structure bring together a really refined and delicious rum. This is not a hogo bomb by any means, but simply a well-constructed rum with good age on it.
