Review #761; Rum #195: Worthy Park 13yr “Gemini” “Florida Rum Society”

This is a 2 barrel blend of rums from Worthy Park distillery located in St Catherine, Jamaica. This blend is a special release of just the Worthy Park Medium Marque, that hasn’t been blended in with a lower or higher marque. Aged for 13 years tropically then bottled with no additives, this is sure to be interesting. This blend of barrel was selected by and for the Florida Rum Society.

ABV: 56%

Nose: Raspberry, Crème Brulee, Star Anise, Black Pepper, Toasted Coconut

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Raspberry, Star Anise, Black Pepper, Toasted Coconut, tannins, Passion Fruit

Finish: Medium Length finish. Raspberry, Star Anise, Black Pepper, Toasted Coconut, Nutmeg, Passionfruit

Rating: 6/10

This is a very good rum, its hits a lot of those fruity notes you expect from a Jamaican rum, with some spices and savory notes coming in due to the long tropical ageing. The Raspberry is very pronounced as is the Passionfruit and black pepper. I do have to say though, I give the Smugglers Cove pick the edge here as I preferred it flavor profile which while similar, leaned a bit more into the oak influence due to the extra year of tropical ageing.
