Review #756; Rum #190: The Duchess Long Pond 20yr (2001)

This bottlings comes to us by way of European independent bottler The Duchess. This is a 20 year old rum from the Long Pond Distillery located in Jamaica. It was aged for 20 years in ex-bourbon casks before being bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non chill filtered. This is the LPS Marque for Long Pond, which has an ester count between 400-550.

ABV: 60.1%

Nose: Buttery Popcorn, Allspice, Over-ripe Banana, Slight Pineapple bark, Mango

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Buttery Popcorn, Over-Ripe banana, Pineapple Bark, Mango, Allspice, Nutmeg

Finish: Medium length finish. Over-Ripe banana, Pineapple Bark , Vanilla, Mango, Nutmeg, Black Pepper

Rating: 7/10

This is a great bottling from The Duchess. Classic funky aged Jamaican. Big over-ripe fruits, spices, and some vanilla all thrown together that make for an enjoyable experience. I have the least amount of experience with Long Pond but this is a great rum.
